Courage, bravery, honour, Faith, straight forwardness and many more such traits are related to a "Man" in books of history. The scenario has changed now, the future historians say in year 2080 would not find such typical charecteristics in Men of the past (our time) What has gone wrong? Let's study the root causes.
The first thing that comes forward is faith, with so many other attractions around us in the material world having great temptations of wealth and women, the likely choice would not be remaining on the right track. The real test of faith is when you have the opportunity to do the wrong (which has more worldly gains) and the decision is also in your hand. Your decision will determine if you let go the opportunity and try to follow the path which is clearly indicated by Islam and all other religions which is to follow the good and avoid the evil.
The other attribute is character which is developed over the years and is dependent on the efforts of your parents and elders, your respected teachers at school, colleges and universities, your friend's company and the basic work and business ethics you are taught when you enter the practical life. Here again you are tested every day with an equal opportunity to work hard and make your career and living or go for short cuts and cheat your way to the top of the ladder.
Flexibility is another personality trait that determines your willingness to accomodate people with in the limits drawn by the law and the religion. Its another factor that tests us how arrgant and how helping we are. In our society helping attitude with out any material gain in mind is often consider as the weakness and is mis-used by the people but one can not be a total flexible or a totally non-cooperating arrogant. Its a tough task to mantain a balance in which people often fail and only remain flexible if there is a material benefit in doing so and on the contrary they become absolute arrogant for own benefits and later on encash it by showing relaxation if the undue benefit is there.
Courage backed up by the faith and wisdom is one of the key trait of great men. As of today in our society its difficult to find in the majority of the men. We dont see the controlled courage that was there in Prophet Muhammad may peace be upon him when he went on along with his fiathful companions to defeat a much a much bigger and stronger Army, Tariq Bin Ziad burning his ships and went on to conquer Spain, Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed despite the fact he was the commander n Chief of the Muslim Army, shown courage to face suspension at the orders of the Caliph and you will find 100 of examples of such nature in our and in the history of the world irrespective of country, religion and race.
Will power and determination and none other example can be fit in the best other if we study the life of Quaid E Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in the present day and of our Prophet Mohammad may peace be upon who is a leading example for all times and eras till the life ends. We hardly find Men of words these days who would stood by their words and commitments come what may.
If I analyse my own life and of people, every second decision that we make is a compromise and we find lame excuses for every wrong step we take. I can understand that none of us is perfect and we are subject to commit mistakes, sins and wrong decisions, its very normal but what seems abnormal is that its becoming habitual and feel no shame in doing the wrong as we have an excuse that every one else is doing it. Every one else is answerable for own actions and we are for our own. We need to mend our ways on personal level first to improve our own outlook as a peson, all we are doing right now is a simple blame game and finding faults in others. We got to be lion hearted, wise and devoted to our family, city, country, Nation and the world in a step by step plan to improve our personality by consulting our Holy book "The Quran" and following good people from present and past as our role models.
We have made our lives very complicated and tough by ignoring our own duties and focusing on what others are not doing. Over all improvement of any nation starts from the day when first individual decides to go for improvement in the system by correcting own actions first.
